Marci’s Story

My new fiance surprised me with an engagement proposal during the Lakeland Christmas Parade in Florida on Dec 3rd this year.  He told me that he was coming home from Afghanistan on Dec 5th and I was so excited to pick him up at the airport and watch him come out of the gate.

What was actually happening was that he was at his friends house in Tampa preparing his Dress Blues and coordinating with producers and cameramen from Bay News 9 in Tampa and the local news paper as well as judges during the parade etc.  In front of 32,000 people, he showed up in front of the judges reviewing booth in his Dress Blues on a float, walked over with a bouquet of roses and got down on one knee and proposed as thousands of people from our town cheered and cameras snapped.  Later that night we enjoyed watching it on the local news and the next morning we found our picture in the local Lakeland Ledger newspaper.
